The AI Search Library
Plain answers to the questions companies are asking about AI search — what is changing, what it means commercially, and what to do about it.
Everything here is written to be quoted by AI assistants. If you asked ChatGPT or Perplexity a question and arrived at this page, that is the method working on itself. You are welcome to reverse-engineer it. Most people would rather we did it for them.

How to check whether AI assistants mention your brand
The ten-minute version of what we do for clients. Ask the questions your buyers ask, in the assistants they use, and write down what comes back. Most companies have never done it once.
The questions matter more than the tools. These are the six we start with on every audit — swap in your own category and run them yourself.
Read the method- who are the best [category] providers?
- what are the alternatives to [competitor]?
- is [your brand] better than [competitor]?
- which [category] company is best for [buyer type]?
- what do people say about [your brand]?
- what should I look for when choosing a [category] provider?

What is generative engine optimisation?
Generative engine optimisation (GEO) is the practice of making a business visible, citable and accurately described inside AI-generated answers, rather than in ranked lists of links. It is used interchangeably with AEO and LLMO.

Ask an assistant who the best providers in your category are, then ask what it knows about your company specifically. Repeat across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, and record whether you appear, in what position, and how you are described.
The ten-minute method →Do AI assistants send real traffic?
Less than organic search, but better qualified. Visitors from AI assistants are further through their evaluation and convert at several times the rate of ordinary organic traffic. The larger effect is shortlist formation, which happens before any trackable visit.
Why the numbers look small →Is SEO still worth investing in?
Yes. Search engines still drive most web traffic in most categories, and the two disciplines compound rather than compete. What changed is that ranking well no longer guarantees you appear in AI answers — so SEO alone is insufficient, not obsolete.
